The season goes by quickly when it’s so much fun!
Welcome to new coaches Joey Perrigo, Emily Anderson, and Brooklyn Lull. Thank you also to Aspen Beltran, who helped us earlier this year. We’re happy to have all of you.
Our new pin crown has been a hit! During dual meets whenever a wrestler earns a pin, she gets to wear our pin crown and then present it to the next teammate who earns a pin.
To start the year, we won a lot of matches at GET’s girls tournament.
We traveled to Hastings, MN for duals against #6 Hastings and #1 Apple Valley, MN.
In our only home duals of the year, we defeated Mukwonago and St. Croix Falls.
We placed 5th at the Bi-State Classic. Aini Anderson, Haley Dezelske, Kaytlynn Lambries, Avalee Euler, Sophia Walter, and Allison Weiss were our place-winners. It was also the first time the girls were featured alongside the boys for the finals and placement matches.
At the Clash National Duals, we placed 5th overall with a 2-2 record. The highlight was a pin by Jozie Collins in the final match to give us a 36-35 win over #6 Hastings, MN. It gave us revenge for our earlier season loss too. We also defeated #3 STMA, MN. Kaytlynn Lambries and Sophia Walter were our undefeated wrestlers.
We rocked a cheesehead at The Clash!
This past weekend, we went 3-1 at the Wisconsin Multi Duals and placed 3rd out of 16. Highlights were wins over #5 Bi-State Champions Bayport and #7 Neenah. Our loss was to #3 Menasha. Coach Carl now owes Menasha’s head coach, Zachary Mueller, 100 burpees.
Those duals have gone from four teams to 16 teams in just two years! The growth of Wisconsin girls wrestling is amazing and we’re happy to be a part of it.
We finished up our dual meets for the year with a 10-6 record overall. We’ve already had 32 duals in our history! Our overall record is 20-12. Our long-term goal is to become team state dual champions, starting two years from now when they start. All that dual experience will help us out.
Coach Ross Needham has been leading a great youth group of girls. Coaches Steve Eggerichs, Ross Needham, and Pete Barsness, had by far the biggest middle school group of girls we’ve ever had with twelve.
Next up is the Women’s Warrior Challenge in Wausau. We’ve got a great vibe and culture going and we look forward to finishing the year strong!
